Actief celebrated her centenary year in 2007. Constructed as a cargo vessel in 1907 she spent the first 70 years plying her trade on the other side of the English Channel. Brought over to the UK in 1976 she was converted into a luxury hotel and has been refurbished and updated regularly since then. In the winter of 2005/6 new marble floored bathrooms and air conditioning were installed and 2007/8 saw a major refit and systems upgrade. The price of this boat has been adjusted as a quick sale is required.

This Princess 33 Flybridge has been with the same family ownership since April 1987 and been seviced and maintened and lifted ashore for winter, at Db marine volvo penta dealers on the Thames at Cookham for most of that time. This 2007 ex demonstrator comes to the market as new with all warranties. Anyone familiar with the great inland and estuary boats of the past, such as Freemans and Seamasters, will immediately feel at home with the layout. A good length of coachroof, inset with a long arrow of windows, extends aft to the open helm and cockpit. But traditional lines combine with modern mouldings and these are most prevalent at the stern, where the flanks of an integral bathing platform double as steps leading safely onto wide side decks. The spacious cockpit offers seating for six on a U-shaped settee that drops easily to form a sunpad. A wet-bar moulding offers a deep refrigerated chest and basin, and there is plenty of smart courtesy lighting for a special evening ambience. For rainy days, a canopy system can be erected and it does not feel confined: even at the raised helm position, there is around 6ft 2in of headroom, with a clear view forward through a one-piece forward window section and there are plenty of zip-away sections, the large engine room hatch goes up or down at the touch of a button, presenting a clean, well finished bay that allows complete access to the 62hp Nanni diesel.Moving down below, via three wide shallow steps you cannot help but be impressed by the volume of the saloon. Utilising the lion share of the boat's beam it is a seriously roomy area with 6ft 6in headroom. An L-shaped settee, a storage cabinet and a neat galley make use of the space, and light pours in from the long side windows and two overhead hatches. Finished in a mixture of cherry wood and cream panelling, with no bare mouldings it is an inviting place to retire to. The settee incorporates a simple pull-out occasional berth, and the galley is well stocked with all stainless steel equipment, including a gas hob, an oven and a deep basin. Although dry storage is slightly limited, two good-sized fridges help to make up for it.The forward master cabin features a raised double berth that hinges up to reveal a lined storage bin. Plenty of other stowage is provided, including his-and-hers hanging lockers. Equally well finished, the midships cabin is quite an intricate place, busy with shape, lighting and window area. Single bunks can morph into a double very easily and again plenty of locker space is provided. En suite to the master cabin, the toilet/shower compartment looks smart with its graphite worktops and is a practical size.Based on the displacement version of the 1080, but with a shallower freeboard to make boarding easier, the hull sits very firmly on the water, hardly moving as you walk around the decks. Underway, its the same story, matched by some silky steering. The Capriole will spin in half a boat length, with only minimal power input from the smooth 5cyl Nanni.The combination of a single engine and a bow-thruster works indecently well and with a tickover (800 rpm) speed of just over 1 knot it is all very relaxed. For everyday river cruising, 1200 rpm delivers a fast walking pace, leaving plenty of revs to drop back to slower speeds.Accomodation. |

Brooms introduced the Broom 425 in September 2007 . The design incorporates many new features that have been recently developed across the range, plus new ideas created by Naval architect, Andrew Wolstenholme and our in-house design team headed up by Lucinda Westley. The exterior has our latest concept in styling and incorporates steps both sides of the transom which have proved to be so successful on the Broom 450 and Broom 365. The design makes use of frameless windows and the latest techniques of bonding the windows to the superstructure.The interior provides for a really superior guest cabin with a large shower and toilet compartment. The berth can be easily converted from twins to a double. The spacious deck/ saloon has corner seating and a table to port side with chairs being made portable to provide two comfortable dining seats at the main table. Alternatively owners can choose the dinette layout, which incorporates an additional seating area adjacent to and on the same level asAccomodationHull design and Construction
The mouldings are of excellent quality and are produced using hand laid chopped strand mat and woven rovings in Lloyds approved isopthalic gel coat and resin, over double brushed isopthalic gel coat all but eliminating the risk of osmosis. Substantial transverse and longitudinal stringers are Incorporated throughout the hull for strength. The hull and deck joint is both riveted and bonded.
Deck Layout
The layout provides an easy to use boat when either passing through locks, low bridges or just mooring up, yet also provides comfort and safety when cruising offshore. A major feature of the 425 is the easy and safe access from both sides of the transom with more than adequate safety rails and handholds. The large aft deck area has a door at the aft end for added security. There is also a large dinette seating area with table for outside dining. Teak type decking on the bathing platform and deck steps is provided as standard, together with a boarding ladder.
Command Position
Ergonomically well laid out, the console design permits ease of monitoring the engine systems and navigation equipment, together with an excellent view. Weather protection is provided by the large windscreen. A two part hood protects the cockpit area and helmstation.
Galley
The galley is an easy to use work area complete with stainless steel sink unit with hot and cold water mixer tap. Three burner hob unit with extractor fan, oven and grill. Electric refrigerator. Crockery stowage and cupboards. Cutlery drawer. Easy clean work surfaces. A washer/ dryer is provided as standard in the galley hallway which is directly opposite the galley. Storage cupboards are provided above the washer/ dryer and a drawer below. On the dinette version, the washer/ dryer is located in the aft hallway.
Saloon
The spacious saloon has corner seating and a table to portside with chairs being made portable to provide two comfortable dining seats at the main table. Opposite the settee is an attractive sideboard with cabinets, and provision for a T.V. Opening windows are provided in the saloon.
Upholstery & Interior Fabrics
The choice of materials is very flexible to meet owner requirements. Externally, vinyl covering is standard material in a single colour with piping. Internally the owner is free to choose from the range of materials offered by our interior designers.
Forward Guest Cabin
The forward guest cabin in the 425 is really superior with a large shower and toilet compartment. The berth can easily be converted from twins to a double (please note double berth illustrated in photograph). Roof and individual reading lights. Escape/ ventilation hatch in roof.

Aft Master Cabin
The aft cabin is a unique feature of the Broom range, and the 425 is no exception. There is a large double berth, spacious wardrobes, ample drawer space and full headroom. Transom mounted windows give plently of light and also provide a means for escape. Opening windows.

Complete with sea toilet, moulded wash basin and vanity unit with a cupboard and mirror. Mixer tap for hot and cold water supply. 240 volt shaving point. Towel rail and toilet paper holder, plus toothbrush and glass holder.
