A wonderful fully fitted wide beam, equipped for comfortable off-grid living with a reverse layout for optimal use of the internal space for a liveaboard lifestyle with modern conveniences.
Originally built in 2012 by Collingwood Boat builders and fully fitted, Caledonia is set up for convenience and ease, key for living on the water with a full time office job. Having been a continuous cruiser along the River Thames for over the last year I am sad to leave her, but have a new chapter ahead and looking for a new owner to continue her adventures.
Being a 55ft x 10ft wide beam provides the optimum balance for ease of manoeuvrability, mooring and general cruising, especially for anyone who is new to the boating lifestyle. She can turn around in most places on the canal and river network, and easily fits within locks and mooring spaces with no problems.
The barge was taken out of the water in September 2024 for a full reblacking (base plate included) 4 new additional anodes were also fitted ( 11 in total now on the hull, including an anode on the prop) and a full out of water hull survey was completed. It will be next due for blacking again in 2-3 years to preserve the great condition of her hull. Photos of Blacking work and hull survey carried out can be provided upon viewing in person. BSC valid until April 2028
Power:
Solar-
4 large Tenka solar panels allow us to live the majority of the year from solar-generated energy with little dependency on the engine for recharging batteries, even during the winter months. Each panel is a 595W (totaling 2,380W) through 2 Victron Solar 100/50 Chargers.
Engine-
Caledonia is fitted with a Canaline 52 inboard Diesel engine which has been regularly maintained. Most recent Fuel filters/oil filter change and servicing completed in October 2024. 52HP with approximately 751 Engine Hours currently.
Inverter-
The 2500W Stirling Pro Combi S inverter/charger is powerful enough for a vacuum cleaner, hairdryer and using the calorifier heating element daily for hot showers.
Heating-
Heat source through the winter is a combination of the Webasto central heating system, radiators and a Morso multi fuel stove. A large hot water calorifier system is located in the engine bay and is heated either by the Webasto, immersion heater or from the engine itself.
Water:
The boat has an OffGrid Water filtration 9-stage system with 2 UV sterilization filters, proving unlimited access to water for showering, washing up, cooking or to refill the 910 litre water tank anywhere along the river. This has been an absolute game changer if you are not moored near a water point and need access to clean filtered water. A separate Reverse Osmosis filter unit provides us with a final stage for safe, drinking water, which also remineralises the water.
Interior:
Comfortable kitchen space with breakfast bar for entertaining or work. The kitchen comprises of a Belling Oven, Grill and 4 burner stove top, Coolmatic Dometic 12v fridge freezer, ample preparation space, good cupboard space and sink area.
The Salon living space is comfortable and spacious (enough room for VR gaming) and has fitted storage and shelf space housing a wall mounted TV next to the welcoming fireplace.
The bathroom is located down the hallway with ample storage/cupboard space, double shower, pump out toilet and large sink.
Further down the hallway towards the bow of the boat is the master bedroom. Fitted wardrobes, fitted double bed with storage underneath and access to the front deck.
Stern and Bow decks:
The stern deck benefits from a bespoke fitted pram, this helps protect the outside stern deck spaces from the elements, provides a delightful outside relaxation space and can easily be partially or fully removed.
The Bow deck provides another great outside space, currently used for relaxing, a home grown vegetable space and where we currently house our outside portable water system. Even with this on the deck there is still ample space for chairs and relaxation. The front storage locker is spacious with x2 13kg Propane bottles and storage.
We live on the boat full-time in the Maidenhead area, please get in touch with us directly if you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing. Full out of the water survey completed in 2024 is available on viewing the boat in person.
